During Donald Trump’s first overseas as President, on a visit to Saudi Arabia, he skipped an event on his second day.
In his place, his daughter Ivanka trump gave a three minute speech, thanking the Saudi royals for their hospitality.
This was the second time in the space of a week that Ivanka had replaced Trump at an official event.
Trump then made ad-hoc amendments to his speech. When asked by reporters why Trump had deviated from his prepared speech, a White House official responded that he was “Just an exhausted guy.”
During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Trump received the highest civilian honor. Trump then bowed while receiving it, additionally neither Ivanka nor Melania Trump wore headscarves during the trip. Donald Trump had previously been heavily critical of President Obama for bowing to Saudi royals and for Michelle Obama not wearing a headscarf during previous visits.
On July 30 2012 Trump tweeted “@BarackObama bowed to the Saudi King in public–yet the Dems are questioning @MittRomney’s diplomatic skills.”
During the 2016 US Presidential campaign Trump attacked 2016 US Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton for her “lack of stamina” after footage showed her being helped into a car after a 9/11 memorial in New York.
On August 12 2016, Trump held a National Security address. During the address Trump said that Clinton “lacks the mental and physical stamina to take on ISIS, and all the many adversaries we face.”
