FBI Director James Comey Fired by Trump 2017/05/09

President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey on the 9th May 2017 abruptly terminating the top official leading a criminal investigation into whether anyone associated with the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election APT – Trump and Russia

Trump stated in his letter to Comey that he was beign fired following recommendations from the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General over his inability to effectively lead the FBI. The letter from Trump to Comey is as follows:
