On December 15, 2017 Trump increased his criticism of the F.B.I. on Friday over its investigation of collusion between his campaign and Russia.

Trump made the following comments on the South Lawn of the White House before leaving for an event at the FBI Academy in Quantico:

“It’s a shame what’s happened with the FBI, but we’re going to rebuild the FBI, it’ll be bigger and better than ever.”

“It is very sad when you look at those documents and how they’ve done that is really really disgraceful and you have a lot of very angry people that are seeing it. It is a very sad thing to watch, I’ll tell you that.”

“The level of anger at what they’ve have been witnessing with respect to the FBI is very sad.”

When reflecting on the investigation into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, Trump reflected:

“Let’s put it this way, there is absolutely no collusion, that has been proven.”

“When you look at the committees, whether it’s the senate, or the house, everybody – my worst enemies, they walk out – they say there is no collusion but they continue to look.

“Even the Democrats admit there’s no collusion, there is no collusion, that’s it.”

Trump’s latest attacks on the FBI kept alive the public feud between a president and the United State’s premier law enforcement agency. His statement could be seen as Trump undermining faith in the integrity of an inquiry he has long derided as a “witch hunt.”

Trump added:

“I didn’t make a phone call to Russia, I have nothing to do with Russia. Everybody knows this. That was a Democrat hoax that was an excuse for losing the election”

Trump also criticized the FBI’s handling the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server calling it “very sad, very sad. Very very sad.”

“They’ve found tremendous things on the other side. When you look at the Hillary Clinton investigation. It was… you know I’ve been saying it for a long time, that was a rigged system folks, that was a rigged system. When you look at what they did with respect to the Hillary Clinton investigation, it was rigged. And there has never been anything like it in this country that we have ever found before. It’s very very sad. Very very sad.”

In a news conference on December 15, Attorney General Jeff Sessions did not directly answer questions about the FBI, but made the following comments:

“The FBI is doing a great job around the country.”

Later on December 15, Trump also added, with respect to a potential pardon for Michael Flynn:

“I don’t want to talk about pardons for Michael Flynn yet. We’ll see what happens. Let’s see. I can say this: When you look at what’s gone on with the FBI and with the Justice Department, people are very, very angry.”
