Judge Amy Berman Jackson revokes Manaforts bail and orders him to remain in jail pending trial, based on charges that he had engaged in witness tampering. Before Manafort’s court appearance, said:

“Like Manafort has nothing to do with our campaign… You know, Paul Manafort worked for me for a very short period of time… He worked for me what, for 49 days or something.”

Manafort served Trump for 144 days, he was hired in late March 2016 and resigned in mid-August of 2016.

Trump later tweeted:

“Wow, what a tough sentence for Paul Manafort, who has represented Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and many other top political people and campaigns. Didn’t know Manafort was the head of the Mob. What about Comey and Crooked Hillary and all of the others? Very unfair!”

Rudy Giuliani stated:

“When the whole thing is over, things might get cleaned up with some presidential pardons. I don’t understand the justification for putting him in jail. You put a guy in jail if he’s trying to kill witnesses, not just talking to witnesses.”
