President Donald Trump has announced that his chief of staff John Kelly will leave his job by the end of the year.
“John Kelly will be leaving – I don’t know if I can say ‘retiring’, but he’s a great guy. John Kelly will be leaving at the end of the year. We’ll be announcing who will be taking John’s place … I’ll be announcing that over the next day or two.”
There have been persistent reports for several days Kelly was under pressure to go.
It has been widely reported that Kelly’s relationship with Trump had deteriorated.
“He’s been with me almost two years now, between two positions,” Trump said. “I appreciate his service very much.”
