Trump goes on a Sixteen Tweet Rampage on January 2, 2018 – What did he say?

[sgmb id=”2″]

On his first full day back at the White House after his holiday in Florida, Trump went on a tweet attack, firing off sixteen tweets.

Trump averages seven tweets per day and were a mixture of comments on foreign policy, the media, cable TV and the usual complaints. His tweets were as follows:

  1. Iran Foreign Policy @ 0709

Trump has backed the protesters against the current Iranian government recently. Trump never passes off an opportunity to criticize his predecessor, Barack Obama

“The people of Iran are finally acting against the brutal and corrupt Iranian regime. All of the money that President Obama so foolishly gave them went into terrorism and into their “pockets.” The people have little food, big inflation and no human rights. The U.S. is watching!”

Trump has backed the protesters against the current Iranian government recently. Trump never passes off an opportunity to criticize his predecessor, Barack Obama and attempt to show that he is changing things.

  1. Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin gave Passwords to Foreign Agents @0748

“Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aid, Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others.”

Trump is attempting to state that the story in the Daily Caller is accurate. The story states that Abedin forwarded emails with important passwords to her Yahoo account and that because every Yahoo account was hacked, Abedin therefore gave the Russians access to classified government systems.

The idea of Deep State is central to those in the conservative media, such as Steve Bannon. It is basically meant to mean that there is an extra-judicial government being run in the shadows of the public-facing government, the Deep State’s main objective is to maintain the status quo.

  1. Trump compliments “Fox & Friends” @0844

“Thank you to Brandon Judd of the National Border Patrol Council for your kind words on how well we are doing at the Border. We will be bringing in more & more of your great folks and will build the desperately needed WALL! @foxandfriends”

  1. Trump States that Companies are Giving Bonuses due to Tax Cut Bill @0849

“Companies are giving big bonuses to their workers because of the Tax Cut Bill. Really great!”

Trump is correct here, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines AT&T, Boeing and Wells Fargo & Co have all promised to pay bonuses or invest more in training after the cut in the corporate tax rate.

  1. Trump Talks about Effect of Sanctions on North Korea @0908

“Sanctions and ‘other’ pressures are beginning to have a big impact on North Korea. Soldiers are dangerously fleeing to South Korea. Rocket man now wants to talk to South Korea for first time. Perhaps that is good news, perhaps not – we will see!”

North Korea have opened up communications with South Korea for the first time in two years.

  1. Trump Celebrates his Impact on Commercial Aviation @0913

“Since taking office I have been very strict on Commercial Aviation. Good news – it was just reported that there were Zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest year on record!”

Trump took credit for 2017 being the safest year for commercial aviation. Trump was referring to a report by the Aviation Safety Network (ASN), which stated that 2017 marked the safest year on record for commercial aviation worldwide with no fatal passenger jet airliner crashes. No US passenger airline has reportedly had a fatal crash since 2009.

The ASN stated in the news release:

“The “steady and persistent” decline in airline accidents since 1997 can be attributed to the sustained efforts of international aviation safety organisations.”

ASN President Harro Ranter told Reuters

“It’s impossible to link the worldwide level of safety directly to recent US policy changes.”

“US efforts have been instrumental to get to where we are today, but it takes years for policy changes to reach effect, and only in conjunction with other efforts by the aviation industry.”

It’s hard to find any evidence that Trump has affected done anything to impact aviation safety at all. If anything, Trump has promised to loosen regulations on aviation. In February 2017, Trump met with the aviation industry. In comments recorded by the White House, Trump remarked:

“I’m thrilled to welcome the leaders of the airline industry to the White House. Your industry supports over 10 million well-paying U.S. jobs and creates almost $1 trillion in economic activity, which is really big stuff, really amazing.”

“We have an obsolete plane system, we have obsolete airports, we have obsolete trains. We have bad roads. We’re going to change all of that, folks. You’re going to be so happy with Trump. I think you already are.”

“So we want to help you realize these goals by rolling back burdensome regulations. And you people are regulated probably as much as almost anybody, although I can think of a couple of industries that are even worse.”

  1. & 8. Trump Welcomes New Publisher to the New York Times whilst Criticizing it @0939 and 0953

“The Failing New York Times has a new publisher, A.G. Sulzberger. Congratulations! Here is a last chance for the Times to fulfill the vision of its Founder, Adolph Ochs, ‘to give the news impartially, without fear or FAVOR, regardless of party, sect, or interests involved.’ Get…”

“….impartial journalists of a much higher standard, lose all of your phony and non-existent ‘sources,’ and treat the President of the United States FAIRLY, so that the next time I (and the people) win, you won’t have to write an apology to your readers for a job poorly done! GL”

Trump continues to criticize any negative press about him in the media. He believes he is not being treated ‘fairly’

  1. Trump Criticizes the Democrats for doing nothing for DACA @1016

“Democrats are doing nothing for DACA – just interested in politics. DACA activists and Hispanics will go hard against Dems, will start ‘falling in love’ with Republicans and their President! We are about RESULTS.”

Trump got rid of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program) on September 5 2017, which Obama had introduced five years previously.

Trump on Tuesday September 5, 2017 ordered an end to program that shields young undocumented immigrants from deportation, calling it an “amnesty-first approach” and urged Congress to pass a replacement before he begins phasing out its protections in six months.

As early as March, 2018, officials said, some of the 800,000 young adults brought to the United States illegally as children who qualify for the program, DACA, will become eligible for deportation. The five-year-old policy allows them to remain without fear of immediate removal from the country and gives them the right to work legally.

  1. Trump Celebrates all he has Done for the Veterans @1311

“We will not rest until all of America’s GREAT VETERANS can receive the care they so richly deserve. Tremendous progress has been made in a short period of time. Keep up the great work @SecShulkin @DeptVetAffairs! https://instagram.com/p/BddOPJfAngh/”

  1. Trump Thanks Utah Senator Orrin Hatch @1723

“Congratulations to Senator Orrin Hatch on an absolutely incredible career. He has been a tremendous supporter, and I will never forget the (beyond kind) statements he has made about me as President. He is my friend and he will be greatly missed in the U.S. Senate!”

Trump had begged Hatch to run for an eighth term, so as to keep replacement favourite Mitt Romney from making a run for the Senate.

  1. & 13. Threatens Palestine @1737 and 1737

“It’s not only Pakistan that we pay billions of dollars to for nothing, but also many other countries, and others. As an example, we pay the Palestinians HUNDRED OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year and get no appreciation or respect. They don’t even want to negotiate a long overdue…”

” …peace treaty with Israel. We have taken Jerusalem, the toughest part of the negotiation, off the table, but Israel, for that, would have had to pay more. But with the Palestinians no longer willing to talk peace, why should we make any of these massive future payments to them?”

Trump threatens to remove aid because the Palestinians are refusing to negotiate a peace treaty with Israel. Trump recently announced that he would relocate the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, an act which has caused widespread protest in Israel and Palestine and received widespread condemnation across the world.

  1. Trump Claims he has a Bigger Button than Kim Jung Un @1949

“North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”

Trump responds to the news from North Korea that Kim Jung Un has a Nuclear Button with a boast that his button is bigger and more powerful.

Following heightened tensions with North Korea and the world and North Korea’s sudden attempt to open up communications with South Korea, surely the President of the most powerful country of the world doesn’t need to antagonize the dictator of a country which owns Nuclear Weapons?

Kim Jung Un, the head of secretive, North Korea had released a New Year message on January 1, 2018:

“The United States should know that the button for nuclear weapons is on my table.”

“The entire U.S. mainland is within our nuclear strike range.”

“When it comes to North-South relations, we should lower the military tensions on the Korean Peninsula to create a peaceful environment. Both the North and the South should make efforts.”

George Bush’s ethics lawyer, Richard Painter stated:

“This Tweet alone is grounds for removal from office under the 25th Amendment, this man should not have nukes.”

  1. Trump is Going to Host the MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on 2018/01/08 @2005

“I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock. Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!”
