Trump on Cruz / Cruz on Trump

In early 2016, when the two men were battling it out to become the Republican nominee for president, they were bitter enemies.

With days to the mid-terms, Trump is supporting Cruz’s re-election, as his seat has become increasingly more important to Trump in his attempt to hold onto control of the Senate.

On August 31, 2018, Trump tweeted:

On October 22, 2018, Trump held a rally for Cruz in Houston in which he praised the senator.

At the rally Trump said:

“I’m a nationalist, OK? I’m a nationalist, use that word.”

“And you need to vote for Ted Cruz. he’s a terrific, great senator. Loyal citizens like you helped to build this country, and together we are taking back our country, returning power to you, the American people. That’s what happened. That was the greatest moment in the history of our country, what’s happened.”

In reference to Cruz, Trump now calls him:

“Beautiful Ted.”

Thanking Trump for his endorsement, Cruz said:

“I am honored that President Trump is here endorsing and supporting my campaign, and I look forward to campaigning alongside him in 2020.”

“God bless Texas and God bless Donald Trump.”

He’s like a baby. … He’s like a little baby. Soft, weak, little baby by comparison. But for lying, he’s the best I’ve ever seen. … A guy like Ted Cruz, he has no clue. He never employed anybody. He’s a nasty, nasty guy.”  – Business Insider
